Can I Wear All The Birthstones?

The significance of birthstones goes back hundreds of years, with origins in the biblical story of Aaron's breastplate.  Twelve stones, set into this ornate armour, became laden with significance during the Middle Ages and were worn or carried by all who could afford them.  For the very wealthy, wearing all twelve at once was a way to signify wealth as well as piety, as the religions significance was still very strong.  The middle classes would wear or carry the stone that represented each month as a form of religious protection.

There's no reason why anyone should avoid wearing a particular stone, and gemmologists will tell you that each one has particular properties that help release inner strength, reduce doubt and aid clarity around particular themes of life.  It is most significant to wear your own birthstone, but you can also wear the stone associated with any month to tap into the qualities associated with each one.

Wearing the stones of your children or other loved ones can be mutually beneficial – as a parent you are part of the energy of your children, so you can strengthen a bond or generate mutual aid by wearing their birthstone as well as your own.

If you like the idea of wearing the stone for each month our Purity collection is an excellent way of doing so on a budget.  You might even consider purchasing the Purity necklaces for your family members and slipping an extra pendant or two on a single chain, or wearing two at different lengths.    Wearing all twelve birthstones at once might prove to be a little difficult; however, you can certainly wear those of your loved ones, or the stone for each month in rotation.
