What Would Carrie Wear?

The position of First Lady is a uniquely American idea, but the wives of politicians are now just as much in the spotlight as their partners are and Carrie Symonds is no different.  As a seasoned PR professional she knows just how important image is, and she definitely makes an effort to appear polished and approachable when she is seen in public.  After her engagement to Boris Johnson she became firmly placed in the public eye, and the people couldn’t wait to check out her engagement ring.

Carrie's engagement ring has tones of Princess Diana's to it – a central coloured stone encircled by a halo of diamonds.  Carrie has an oval cut emerald in hers, while Diana's (now worn by The Duchess of Cambridge) featured a sapphire.  Our Apollo Green necklace is a homage to Carrie's ring and we think she'd wear this to enhance and draw attention to her stunning engagement ring.

Many of Carrie's outfits have a high neckline or collar and she is not often pictured wearing necklaces (although there are pictures of her wearing a stunning silver statement necklace which hasn't been seen in recent years).  Sometimes you can see a glimpse of a chain disappearing under her clothes which makes us think she prefers small, sentimental necklaces to bold ones – she's certainly not one to layer necklaces.  Perhaps she is wearing our Apollo Green necklace after all!

Carrie's Remembrance Day outfit was widely pictured and here, although she often favours a boho edge to her look (lots of floaty, floral dresses and soft tailoring), she accessorises with more understated pieces.  The necklace shares design motifs with Jill Biden's Van Cleef & Arpels/Fornash piece, although Carrie's is plain gold without the red porcelain inlays.  She paired this with simple hoop earrings that have a broad profile, so we think our Summer Breeze hoop earrings would be a firm favourite in her jewellery collection.  These simple yet modern hoops have a flat profile like the ones she wears and this gives them a unique look that sets them apart from your run-of-the-mill hoops on the high street.

When it comes to earrings Carrie wears a variety of styles, not sticking rigidly to a particular aesthetic.  She has been pictured in a pair of silver heart shaped earrings with a blue enamel inlay which have a similar style to our Love and Kisses Cute earrings.  These pretty drop earrings showcase our logo, which features a heart nestled inside another.  They're finished with a kiss at the top which is studded with cubic zirconia for that essential sparkle and they're right up Carrie's street.

Carrie doesn't wear a lot of jewellery, but we think she'd love all our hoop earrings, especially the Summer Fun and Summer Nights pairs.  The amethyst in the Summer Fun pair would go with many of her dresses, while the wider profile and glittering cubic zirconia of the Summer Nights pair would be ideal for many occasions and certainly in keeping with her look.

We think she'd also opt for the Gwyneth and Pink Lily collections.  These delicate, floral inspired sets are totally in keeping with her boho style and we can imagine her wearing them for a Downing Street garden party or even a visit to Buckingham Palace.  Her style is very similar to that of The Duchess of Cambridge, so if you're looking to emulate the effortless chic of either of these women stick to understated accessorising and really make sure your outfit is the star of the show, accented by carefully chosen jewellery to finish the look.
