What Would Catherine Bordey Wear
We're delighted to have Death In Paradise back on our screens especially because we love the longstanding character, and the mayor of Saint Marie, Catherine Bordey. She has been in it since the beginning, a feat that only Commissioner Selwyn Patterson and lizard Harry can match.
Bar owner and upstanding citizen Catherine is a stalwart of the series and of the fictional town of Saint Marie, loved for her charm, as well as her style. She wears very flamboyant jewellery and bright, tropical print clothes, carrying off this look with panache. We think Prue Leith and Catherine Bordey may share a stylist; such is their penchant for statement jewellery!
Mayor Bordey is often seen wearing a stack of bangles and bracelets if she's not wearing a cuff on her upper arm. She wears an eclectic mix of beads and colours and we think our Flamboyant bracelet would be right up her street, and not just because of the name! This topaz and sterling silver piece combines 11 rich blue stones with silver oval links to create an attention grabbing piece that would look beautiful on its own, or worn as part of a stack like Catherine would.
Our Rhapsody Tunes and Fantasia Mini (blue) bangles would work perfectly with the Flamboyant bracelet – the blue topaz in the bracelet would complement the same shade in the Fantasia Mini bangle, while the slim profile of that piece would match the bracelet profile well. The Rhapsody Tunes bangle, with a broad band of cubic zirconia nestled in the same round silver mounts as the Fantasia stones, would tie a stack together and stand out at the same time. These three pieces could look great with Catherine's tan and a couple of her favourite beaded bracelets for extra colour.
Our Caribbean Delight duo of stud earrings and matching necklace would definitely suit Catherine, the name making it an ideal partnership because the stone, larimar, is only found in the Caribbean. Although this twosome is sleek and understated in style, they'd work for Catherine's look if they were combined with other pieces. As she often only wears one necklace, if she wears one at all, this would vie for the position of favourite with the Latino necklace.
The Latino necklace uses the same gorgeous turquoise larimar stone in a round bead with a silver cap, which is very Mayor Bordey. We think she might prefer this to the Caribbean Delight option, and perhaps with the Dominica earrings? These drop stud earrings feature two larimar stones each, one round and one teardrop shaped in a polished cabochon cut. Being a fan of the statement drop earring these would give her the movement she looks for.
Our Waves earrings would also fit the bill. These sterling silver drop earrings emulate the shape of the waves and are an ideal accompaniment for any look worn at her beachfront bar. With winding, natural curves and the weight to move beautifully with the wearer, these stunners are Catherine through and through.
For a showy stud the Clementine earrings would be ideal. A vibrant orange citrine stone is at the centre and this is a colour Catherine often wears. The two-tone gold and silver mount is also bold, which we know she likes, and the smattering of light-scattering cubic zirconia makes these studs appealing for a woman who usually goes for much bigger pieces. These would be a classy choice for her mayoral duties.
If you love Mayor Bordey's signature style, wear loud and proud prints with equally flamboyant jewellery, and wear it with elegance and poise that says “I can carry this off”.
