What Would Prue Leith Wear?

We can't wait for the return of the Great British Bake Off, and the partnership between Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood is just as fear-inducing and laugh-inducing as the working partnership with Mary Berry.  Prue is a big fan of the statement necklace, and in 2019 she even collaborated with jewellery brand Lola Rose to create a selection of jewellery she would love to wear (and she does!).  Prue has been wearing statement necklaces for most of her life, and she would be a real lover of the neckmess trend.  She has also been pictured with stacks of rings on her fingers or stacks of bangles on her wrist, so she's definitely in the more-is-more camp.

Prue is well versed in accessorising, so her choice of earrings is understated when she wears a bigger necklace.  We think she would love our Purity, Vita and Orbit studs as they come with a wide choice of gemstone colours – one for every outfit and showstopper necklace.  Prue also loves a statement earring, so if you're not such a fan of big necklaces you could emulate her style with bold earrings instead.  She attributes her love of bold colours to growing up in South Africa with all the exotic plants and flowers she would see every day.  With this in mind, we think the key to stealing Prue's style is to go bold and colourful.

Our Rainbow cocktail collection is peak Prue, with a riot of colours in a bold cluster design that she would love.  The necklace may be too understated for Prue, but layered with a couple of other bright necklaces it would be ideal.  The earrings and cocktail ring are definitely the style of jewellery Prue loves, so if you want to emulate her bold, colourful look then these pieces are perfect for getting into the aesthetic slowly – bear in mind that getting used to wearing such big necklaces can take a while, and remember they're not always the most practical items to wear on the school run or the grocery shopping.

Another way of getting the look is to go big on earrings and your necklace but not over the top.  Wearing two bold pendants is very Prue, and while she sometimes goes for studs with a really big necklace, our pendants are not so out there that you can't wear two of them as well as statement earrings.  We think our Journey necklace, with its strong shape and cubic zirconia studding, is ideal as the longer necklace in a pair, with the Star Catcher one worn slightly shorter above it.  If you're not brave enough to go big with your earrings and necklace then wear our Arabian Nights studs with the Star Catcher in your necklace options – the cabochon cut lapis lazuli in both pieces really ties the look together.

The Reverso Iolite necklace would also go well with the Journey pendant, while the Spiralite necklace offers a similar style but with amethyst as the central stone for a more delicate colour.  Our Clementine necklace with citrine in a silver and gold mount is also a bold option for a necklace pairing.  The Spiralite necklace has matching earrings to help co-ordinate the look.

Prue would be at home in several of our earring sets, especially the Hollywood pair (as a nod to her co-star), the amethyst Rain Drop dangly earrings and any of the Spicy collection earrings, particularly the Spicy Red and Spicy Blue pieces. She wouldn't stop there though, at least one ring or a bangle is required for a truly Prue look.  Our topaz Interlace ring is bold and bright enough, as is the Blue Bomb cocktail ring with a cluster of different shapes and shades of topaz.  If you prefer purple, the Purple Haze cocktail ring is for you, and it will go with lots of different colours.  Our Fantasia Mix ring, with its multiple bands and different coloured gemstones would be a go-to favourite for Prue, and you know she'd also wear the matching bangle.

Get ready for this year's tent-based baking tournament by getting the Bake Off look.  No matter whether you're more Prue or more Mary, we have jewellery you'll love.
