When Jewellery Is The Perfect Gift – Part 1

Jewellery is a great gift to give on special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.  It's also perfect for Christmas and Valentine's Day, being a romantic token in many ways.  While we're used to giving jewellery on these special days, there are many other occasions when jewellery is an appropriate gift.  Here's our guide to these events and our pick of the most meaningful jewellery to give at these life milestones.

It is customary to give silver jewellery at christenings and naming ceremonies; often the jewellery is given to the child but kept safe by the parents until the child is old enough to wear and appreciate it.  Why not also give jewellery to the mother of the child, perhaps something she can wear as a symbol of her love for the child?  Birthstone jewellery is ideal for big life events like this, and with a wide selection of daytime and evening jewellery you're sure to find an Amore Argento piece that's perfect.  We think that it's nice to give something that can be worn every day as a gift to the mother; you'll be giving something intricate and special to the child, so a pair of studs or a simple pendant necklace that can be worn every day, as a link between mother and baby, is a thoughtful gift that will be loved and worn constantly.

“Push presents” are a relatively new idea in the UK, but have been commonplace in the US for longer.  These are gifts given by the father to the mother after birth, and tend to be expensive, special pieces that are then worn on the child's birthday and other significant family dates, but there's no hard and fast rule when it comes to giving a push present.  We think a classic tennis bracelet is a perfect push present as these pretty pieces are versatile for daily wear, but sumptuous enough to work with sophisticated outfits for special days out.  Another nice aspect of giving a bracelet to a new mother is that they're impractical to wear with a new-born, so they are something to look forward to wearing when the baby becomes a toddler.

Our Deep Joy bracelet is a great push present because the name represents the deep joy of a new baby.  The rectangular links between the stones give a modern twist to a classic design and this piece will always be in style.  For a softer look the Lifeline bracelet features oval links alternated with a brushed silver finish and micro set cubic zirconia and again the name is significant for the event.  The Snowy bracelet, made up of flush mounted cubic zirconia which dazzle from every direction, is another great option, so whichever you pick you can be sure it'll be appreciated.

Continuing with the theme of motherhood and children, Mother's Day is a great excuse to give jewellery, and for this occasion we recommend going bespoke, with a piece that uses the birthstones of all her children.  This approach can be especially poignant if a child has been lost, as it is a way of remembering a lost life and keeping that memory alive.  A cluster necklace or ring with multiple birthstones is a lovely way of bringing every child into a single piece and while we have many designs featuring multiple gemstones, we can also set our pieces with the stones of your choice.   Our Always and Forever ring is perfect for personalising; the stones can be swapped out for the birthstones of each child in a practical and pretty ring that can be worn every day.  Have a look at our Kaleidoscope ring, which has space for three stones, and our cocktail rings featuring four or more stones that can be replaced with meaningful birthstones.

We hope you will be checking back for part 2, where we'll look at the other life milestones where jewellery is a thoughtful and appropriate gift.
