When Jewellery Is The Perfect Gift – Part 2
Welcome back to our guide to all the occasions when you can give jewellery as a present. Part 1 covered all the motherhood and childhood milestones, and now we turn our attention to the times later in life that can be marked with a thoughtful gift.
Graduation is a time when gifts are given as it's a cause for celebration. Jewellery makes the perfect gift here as a graduation often comes at a transitional time of life, when young adults are going out into the world of work and need to go for a sophisticated look. A pair of gorgeous stud earrings is ideal, and given before the ceremony they can be worn in the graduation photo, which will take pride of place on a mantelpiece. Our Bright Lights studs are perfect – a square design is a modern take on a cluster style and they will shine brightly, just like the new graduate. These studs are perfect for making a good impression at job interviews, and a first job is also a cause for celebration.
If you have given our Bright Lights earrings as a graduation present, then the matching necklace is the perfect token to congratulate them on a first job after University. Any new job is worth celebrating, but a first job or a promotion deserves a special celebration. We think it's nice to give pieces that have matching counterparts to build up a three or four piece ensemble, and many of our designs have these complementary pieces available. Many of the life events we're looking at will happen to everyone, so there's always an opportunity to give different pieces from the same collection.
A new house is certainly cause for celebration, and while many people still give practical gifts (as is often the case with weddings) this is becoming less common nowadays for couples (or singles) quite often already have most of the kit they need when they move to their new place. Rather than give a kitchen appliance that will languish in a cupboard gathering dust, why not give a piece of jewellery which represents the achievement of this huge milestone? Our Circle of Life designs, with ruby, emerald, sapphire or cubic zirconia are perfectly for this event as they represent the life cycle – buying a home is often something which happens in mid-life so this symbolic representation couldn't be more apt. The circular design is a classic motif, and the matching earrings or necklace can be given at a different occasion to complete the set.
The New Year is also an event where gifts can be given although it is not traditional to do so. That's what makes it such a nice surprise, so if you're embarking on a year with lots of plans and exciting times ahead a gift of jewellery is a lovely touch. Something that represents your future plans, or which can be worn while these plans are unfolding is ideal; so a pair of simple studs or a pendant necklace would be perfect. Our birthstone Purity collection is ideal for giving as a token gift on occasions like New Year's Eve, or even the summer or winter solstices.
When we think of retirement presents we automatically think of clocks and watches, but jewellery is also perfect, whether it's a gift from a workplace or from family and loved ones. Again, our Circle of Life pieces are ideally suited for retirement jewellery as it is an important life milestone. Retirement is also the perfect time to give a piece of jewellery that is a little bit showy, representing all the great things the person has achieved in their job, so don't be afraid to get something really outgoing like a cocktail ring or something from our Fantasia collection with a riot of coloured gems. Retirement is a time of life when exploration and new experiences are a focus, so a showy piece of jewellery can be the perfect foil to big adventures.
